steampunkesque car interior

Thu Apr 2, 2009, 5:59 AM
as my car is working again, which is utterly amazing, i've decided to do more with the interior decorations... it's time for the melmobile to go internally steampunk.

while i'm far more of a fan of neo-victroian, due to the fact it is impractical and inequitable to trade my lovely car for a horse and buggy, it seems the best couse of action of awesomising the melmobile, would be to re-build her interior consoles etc.

i'm going to paint the blue rubber leatherpattern stuff to look like actual leather, i.e. not blue, but brown, and i'm thinking of either repacing some of the knobs with brass and crystal ones, or atleast painting them gold, and possibly building an mdf box-type thing and staining it with my walnut stain, and giving it brass corners or such things, and perhaps re-writing some of the signages, such as the temp-guage for the air-con, and maybe the gearbox. seeing that i already have a pair of vintage leather driving gloves in my glove box, i think it will all come together nicely.

the project should be really fun actually, and i'll definately be posting pictures. :)

I'm female, last I checked, 18 years old, live in an itsy-bitsy island called Australia, I'm learning millinery with a 6-day weekend, I'm semi-obsessed with neo-victorianism, especially of late, and speaking of late, it's 3am. i think it's time for bed. goodnight.

I just organized something for the two nights we'll have to spend in Dublin. we didn't book any hotel yet and my dad knows someone there, she's a colleague at the embassy and has room for us. So we don't have to pay for that, but we should bring her some little guest-presents. Maybe you could bring some small, unexpensive typical australian gift? I think that'd be good.
She emailed me and sounds very nice, said that she might even have enough time to show us around in Dublin. She said the heating doesn't work but that doesn't matter as it's summer anyway and there might be a problem with the showers, but we can live with that for two nights, can't we?

OMG IT'S ONLY THREE DAYS!!!!

great :) just something small and unexpensive. I will get some typical german thing for her so if we both get a very small gift that should be fine.

i've just found out that dad can't seem to find any records of the money going through, so i think it's safe to believe that it never quite made it :|
do you have the money to try booking it?
i will send you the money if you need, it's just i don't want to trust dad's credit card again, and i can't use my Eftpos over the internet like that...

woah that sucks.
No I'm sorry, I don't have the money, as I've booked my flights and my hotel for austria already.
uh I guess then you'd have to send me the money, I just hope it all works out quickly enough for us to still book the tour we want...
I'll send you an email later with my bank account details, ok?

sure thing :)
i'll probably need to know your bank branch name or number, if you have BSB's over there, that would help...
but yeah, we'll see what we can do.

uh does it work with IBAN/BIC codes?
Or just ask your bank what information you need, send it to me directly and I'll go and ask them for the answers...
